From November 17th to May 31st , 2015, an exhibition held at the Tritone Exhibition Space of Fondazione Sorgente Group brings together for the first time documents, autograph letters and astronomical instruments that accompanied the intense study of the celestial heavens by Galileo Galilei, Christopher Clavius and Angelo Secchi. Ancient texts, presented for the first time after careful restoration and digitization, belong to the Clavius Collection of the Historical Archives of the Pontifical Gregorian University, the observation instruments have been loaned from the Museum of the Astronomical Observatory of Rome (INAF) and the celestial globe from the National Central Library of Rome.
The exhibition is open to the public free of charge, Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 18:30 at Tritone Exhibition Space - Via del Tritone 132, Rome. Guided tours are available by appointment, coordinated by Associazione Culturale Estrellas y Planetas of the Astronomic Observatory of Rome on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for schools groups and Tuesdays at 18.00 for the general public (for additional information: www.mporzio.astro.it ; www.estrellasplanetas.org).
